9600GT, and some other stuff...

Journal Entry: Sat Aug 23, 2008, 3:48 AM
well i bought the eVGA Geforce 9600GT 512mb, and it's a pretty good video card. Though a few weeks later, the 9800GT got released and is almost the same price as the 9600GT...i'm a bit mad about that...but still, from 7600GT to 9600GT, there's a HUGE performance step! for example, on the 7600GT, playing DiRT in 1280x1024 is...unplayable! and still in 800x600 it had frequent framerate drop. with my new 9600GT, i play in 1280x1024, with 2x AA, and i never ever get a dramatic framerate drop (yes i still get very tiny framerate drop, but it doesn't even screw up the gameplay and driving)

some other things, i've found a job, part-time, but it pays well, in security, i mostly go in a refinery. The best thing is it's really quiet 99% of the time, and i've only done "still jobs", meaning i stay in a vehicle parked in a place and watch what's going on around...and also watching anime and listening to music on my PMP, listening to the radio, playing PSP...eating my lunch anytime i want... :D (the vehicle is equipped with a standard 3.5mm AUX connector so i can listen to music with its speakers, also watch anime and have the sound come out from there...and also playing my PSP with the car sound system!)

i should get my refund from the defect 9600GT soon at the beginning of next week, and my first pay on Aug.28th. I think i'm going to buy that Ramos T8 8gb PMP, look like a fine player.

8600GTS aftermath, and new camera

Journal Entry: Tue Jul 8, 2008, 1:21 PM
well i got my Geforce 8600GTS Silent...well not really silent, since it have some kind of electrical noise called "coil noise", i heard this problem is not uncommon on video cards, and this problem happen while in 3D-heavy games. So i rolled back to my 7600GT Silent which is really silent, no coil noise.

i bought a new digital camera, a Fujifilm Finepix Z10fd, it's about time i get a newer one, plus this one is SDHC compatible! i'll be able to use my 8gb MicroSD w/SD adapter in it. And then using the 16gb SD card i bought in Ebay in my SmartQ T5-II. One big minus of my new camera is it doesn't have a Webcam mode... (my old one do have a Webcam mode, but it sucks badly, no auto light gain or stuff like that...)

so since that noise from the new video card is bothering me, i'll probably sell it to someone else who don't really mind the noise, or just have so much fans noise in the computer that it would surely overcome the video card noise. I'm just tired of sending stuff over for RMA by mail and paying expensive shipping fees...

oh yes, a small announce (if anyone do read this anyway), If you live in the Montreal area, and you like video cards and/or old-school video games and/or a videogames collector, there will be a CCJVQ meeting at the L'Enjeux store, between metro Cadillac and Langelier, right beside a St-Hubert restaurant. The videogames collectors meeting will be on July. 19th, from 4pm to...whenever everybody leave :D

  • Playing: Enemy Territory: Quake Wars (still)
  • Drinking: Ramune, coffee, 7up...

well...i'll post a new entry anyway!

Journal Entry: Mon Jun 23, 2008, 12:27 AM
i see no one really care about my journal entries, but oh well...i'll still write something.

i got my SmartQ T5-II, ordered another one to sell to someone, i also ordered an Asus GeForce 8600GTS Silent 256mb, to boost the performance a bit more for the 7600GT Silent i have right now. I'll probably keep the previous card just in case, for a while.

i'm supposed to sell some games too this week, i'll get some Paypal money and i'll order more players to review and resell after (that's a way to "bypass" the fees Paypal ask if you want to get your Paypal money into real money to your home).

so...right now i have a brand-new SmartQ T5-II for sale, and some games too...hoping to sell them soon, or at the videogames collectors meeting in July.

Also in July, i'll order the Eiken manga volume 11, again from Ebay since it'll cost me less than ordering from a specialized website.

What did you ordered recently?

Journal Entry: Sat Jun 7, 2008, 12:19 AM
simple question, what did you ordered online recently?

something real funny, on Ebay, i ordered 2 SDHC cards readers, meaning i can read SD cards, as well as Mini SD and Micro SD (with proper adapter) with this USB card reader, but it also support the SDHC (4gb SD cards and bigger) cards!

and how much did i paid them? 2 cents each! and guess what? shipping was free! lol!

apart of this, i bought my Eiken vol.10 manga, also on Ebay, not a bad deal!

and of course i ordered the SmartQ T5-II (see my previous journal entry), and ordered the newest Ubuntu release (official CD distribution for free!)

i need to sell some of my games, to make some room and to have some extra money.

hint: buy your memory cards (SD cards, Memory Stick, etc...) on Ebay, a lot less expensive than in stores around!

the new SmartQ T5-II!

i just ordered the new SmartQ T5-II for review purpose! this PMP (Portable Media Player) seem to be amazing, as it boast an ADI 600Mhz main processor, a Wolfson WM8987 audio chip (Wolfson made a lot of audio chips for iPods by the way), a 3 inches LTPS screen able to display 16 millions colors, a lot of files compatibility, and also able to play NES, SNES, GBA and Neo-Geo games as the player is shaped like a portable games system. It even have a TV-Out option!

There's no internal memory, but you can put in a SD/Mini SD/Micro SD card up to 16gb (i know 8gb SDHC cards do work in it)

This player is made in China by SmartDevices.
